Since it’s summer, I figure we might as well start out easy and let our brains warm up a bit. Let your creative juices flow onto paper (well, onto the computer) with this one:
Describe your favorite vacation spot. It can be some place you’ve actually been, or it can be somewhere you only dream of going.

The first thing I notice is the smell. That’s how I know we’re getting close. The air becomes thicker, almost tangible. Tangy, even, if tangy can be a smell. Licking my lips, I expect to taste salt. Finally, I can see it. The ocean. A vast expanse of blue-green cascading waves, hiding mysteries beneath the shifting surface. I can hardly wait to feel the white sand beneath my toes as the water laps at the shore. The cry of the seagulls blends in with the crashing waves, becoming peaceful background music for my favorite vacation spot. Despite the gorgeous weather of Hawaii and the fun times in Disney World, plain old Destin is where I can truly relax and enjoy myself, as long as no jellyfish try to spoil the ocean for me.

my family and i are in a race, cousins and grandparents in the maroon astro van and tan buick, myself and my parents in our white astro. who is gonna get there first? the race has been on since yesterday, who is going to get to the resort first? we dont care where we are going, just that we are racing, and each team is just knowing that they are going to win. No one cares about anything else. Until the bridge. as soon as the astros tires hit the bridge, my mother turns to smile at me, and we put the beach boys cd on. the race is suddenly forgotten, and my cousins and i are visibly jumping up and down and yelling that we are on THE BRIDGE. and then realization hits, we are almost there. the beach boys croon my way to madeira beach, and the beauty of surfsong hits me full in the face, the oldness of my beloved resort welcomes me back. the beachs familiar white hot sand burns my feet, and the salt water smell rushes into my lungs, and i am home. (madeira beach, surfsong resort)
