How to Post

**I hate to say this, but please be careful of what you post on Story Jar! Everything should be PG-13 or less; this means limit crude language, along with any other questionable content. Posts will be removed if they are deemed inappropriate in any way. This rule is not because I want to dampen creativity or self-expression; it’s because I know so many people who don’t want to read certain content. If you’re unsure, post a warning along with your title! If it truly is inappropriate, you will need to edit it or remove it.

If you have a poem, place it in the “Poetry” category.

If you have a one-post story, place it in the “Super Short Stories ” category.

If you have a story starter, place it in the “Story Starters” category.

If you have an essay or opinion type of work, place it in the “Essays and Opinions” category.

If you have something you want to talk to other authors about or share with them, place it in the “Chatting” category.

If you have a story with multiple parts or chapters, you must e-mail me so I can make a new category for it!!

As long as you do not want to post a longer story, you should be able to do so without having to ask for a new category. E-mail me if you are unsure of where your post should go. I would be glad to help!

For example:

Imagine I [onlyalullaby] want to post a poem. First, I title it. Let’s say I name it “Windsong.” Here’s what I do:

1) I will log in and click on “New Post” at the top of the screen.

2) I type up my poem. On the right-hand side, I will look for the category called “Poetry.” I check the box next to it and publish my post.

3) I go to Story Jar’s homepage. Under categories, ”Poetry” is located, and if I click on it, “Windsong” is there. Ta da!

Note:

  • If you were to write a short story with chapters, you will place all of the chapters under the story title. A new category will not be made for each chapter.
  • If you forget to give your post a category, your post will be placed under “Uncategorized” by default. This can be fixed by editing the post. If you do not give your post a category at all and you do not fix it, an admin will make the post a draft and e-mail you.
